Questions, answered.
The HC-8001 is a serious tool — and we want you to feel confident before you buy. Here are the questions we hear most. Still not sure? Email us at service@hobuzatools.com and a real person will get back to you.
Most mini chainsaws use a brushed copper motor. The HC-8001 uses a brushless motor — which runs cooler, lasts longer, and delivers stronger, more consistent torque. Combined with an 8-inch guide bar, it handles heavier branches and tougher wood that smaller models struggle with.
The 8-inch guide bar is designed for branches and logs up to around 6–7 inches in diameter — well suited for yard cleanup, storm damage, firewood prep and trimming larger trees. For very large logs or professional forestry work, a full-size chainsaw would be more appropriate.
Yes. The HC-8001 has an automatic oiler that lubricates the chain continuously while you cut. There's also a transparent oil-level window on the side so you can check at a glance without stopping work. Just top up the oil reservoir before each session and you're good to go.
The HC-8001 uses tool-free chain tension — you adjust it by hand using the side knob, no wrench needed. A properly tensioned chain should have a little give when you pull it, but not sag away from the bar. We recommend checking tension before each use and after the first few cuts on a new chain.
Runtime depends on what you're cutting — harder, denser wood draws more power. In typical yard use, each 4.0Ah battery gives you a solid work session. The HC-8001 comes with two batteries, so you can swap and keep going while the first one charges. Most customers find two batteries more than enough for a full afternoon of work.
Yes — the HC-8001 is designed to be approachable. The large hand guard protects your hand from the chain, the rubber-coated grip gives you a confident hold, and the safety lock prevents accidental starts. That said, all chainsaws require attention and respect. We recommend reading the manual, wearing gloves and eye protection, and starting with smaller cuts to get comfortable.
The HC-8001 is compact enough to use one-handed for short cuts, but we recommend two hands for most work — especially on larger branches. The ergonomic grip is designed to give you control whether you're cutting overhead, at waist height, or down low. Two hands always means better control and safer cutting.
The HC-8001 kit includes everything you need to get started: the chainsaw itself, two 21V 4.0Ah batteries, a battery charger, two saw chains, a chain oil bottle, safety glasses, a cleaning brush, and a round file for sharpening. You don't need to buy anything extra — just add your own chain oil and you're ready to cut.
After each use, wipe down the bar and chain with a clean cloth and check the oil reservoir. If the chain feels like it's dragging or leaving rough cuts, it's time to sharpen — use the included round file at the correct angle for your chain. A sharp chain is not only faster, it's also safer. A spare chain is included so you can swap while one is being sharpened.
The HC-8001 comes with a 2-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact us at service@hobuzatools.com and we'll sort it out. We stand behind our tools.
